Procedure
Steep the specialty grains in two gallons of water between 160 and 170 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes Remove grains Turn off heat - Add extract. Add water to the max your pot can boil up to five gallons Bring to a boil Add Bittering Hops Boil for 55 minutes Add finishing hops and boil for 5 minutes Siphon into the primary fermenter Adjust up to 5 gallons of water Cool to 70 degrees (pitching temperature) Take OG Reading Ferment 3 - 7 days at 68 - 70 degrees Take F.G. + Bottle |
Notes
| This Oktoberfest is made with an ale yeast and matures reasonably fast. It came from a brewers best kit. Very good + drinkable beer. The owner of our local homebrew store added a pound of honey to the mix and this seemed to improve the beer even farther. |
